The Crass Onion

I chose this page title for several reasons. The following thoughts and links may explain why. I would like to explain the importance I place on the expressions presented here. I do not know whether this perspective came from Timothy Leary, Allan Watts, or whether their thoughts contributed to my own as follows: What is said here is of no significance other than for the moment. As the moment passes, what remains is history to be transcended.

I would like to thank the following for the inspiration to write about this onion:

The abuse of religion, government, capitalism, our natural resources, alcohol, drugs, loved ones, and whatever else that has been laid to waste to achieve self and social gratification.

I told you about the fool on the hill,
I tell you man he living there still,
Well here's another place you can be,
Listen to me.
Fixing a hole in the ocean,
Trying to make a dove-tail joint-yeah,
Looking through a glass onion.

Peeling The Onion
(Looking In)
Or
Metamorphic Mayhem?

Just another potentially humorous reflection of us as I stumble through life and this site. I live by the grace of God, but he's a klutz!

For some, peeling the onion may be a little less crusty, for others, more so. It may lead to tears of pain, and sorrow, or even tears of joy. Possibly, if you are crass enough, you may feel no effects at all, and probably wont see very far too. As you peel the onion you may find that the deeper you look, the more apt you are of finding that your perceptions are less influenced by the world around you.

Maybe it would help to understand where I am coming from, if I referred to the layers as the walls we put up to protect ourselves from the world around us. Well, it seems to me that these walls can just as equally block us from seeing ourselves as we truly are. I hear from so many people who look at how playful, energetic, and innocent kids are, as well as various young animals, and wish they still had some of that energy. One perception comes to mind is that as we grow older, we are not that way by choice due to the various external influences that we allow ourselves to succumb to, or in some cases condone. Here comes another quip! Argue for your limitations and you get to keep them.
